A blind man and his “eyes” in a fire
一個(gè)盲人和他的“眼睛”在火災(zāi)中
One day, John Dancer and Charlie arrived at a hotel.
有一天，舞者 John 和 Charlie 抵達(dá)酒店。
“Good evening, sir,” said the receptionist.
“晚上好，先生，”接待員說。
“You're welcome to stay, but I'm sorry that we don't allow pets here.”
“歡迎您入住，但對(duì)不起，我們這里不接待寵物?！?/div>
“Charlie isn't a pet,” said John.
“Charlie 不是寵物，”John 說。
“He's my eyes. I'm blind and I can't go anywhere by myself.”
“它是我的眼睛，我是盲人，我自己不能去任何地方?！?/div>
The receptionist apologized and led John and Charlie to their room.
接待員向他道歉，并把 John 和 Charlie 帶到了房間。
John was very tired. He soon fell asleep.
John 很疲憊。他很快就睡著了。
Some time later, Charlie started barking.
過了段時(shí)間，Charlie 開始吠叫。
John woke up and smelt smoke.
John 醒來(lái)時(shí)，聞到一股煙味。
A fire! Smoke started to come in from under the door.
火！濃煙開始從門縫里冒進(jìn)來(lái)。
With Charlie's help, John put some wet towels along the bottom of the door.
在 Charlie 的幫助下，John 把一些濕毛巾塞在門底部的縫里。
Then he got down on the floor next to Charlie and waited.
然后他在 Charlie 旁邊伏在地上，他們等待著。
Soon he heard the sound of a fire engine.
過了不久，他聽到了消防車的聲音。
A fireman arrived and got him out of the building, but the fireman did not want to take Charlie.
一名消防員趕到，把他救出大樓，但消防員不想去救 Charlie。
John would not go without his “eyes”.
John 不愿丟下他的“眼睛”。
Finally, the fireman got Charlie out of the building too and they were both safe.
最后，消防員把 Charlie 也救出了大樓，他們都安全了。
