Hi everyone, and welcome back to Happy Hour. 歡迎回來酒館. Hi, 安瀾.
Hi, lulu, hi everyone.
Here are some other ways you can describe yourself.
For example, we say someone is bursting with energy, energy滿到要噴涌而出.
It's almost like the energy is about to explode.
I sometimes feel like that.
I know, and I have seen it.
Another one is you can describe someone as “a live wire”.
Okay. A live wire is basically火線在中文里我們叫火線. It's basically a wire with electricity in it.
Yep.
So you can actually almost feel the electricity. You can see the electricity going through the wire.
And I also like something that people use in business or at workplace, they would say, for example, Lulu is such a go-getter. It literally means when she wants something she's gonna go and get it.
Yeah, so just mean someone who's very ambitious and works very hard, but it's a very business term. We wouldn't really use this in everyday life outside of business.
No, it's more like workplace and people are discussing who is a go-getter. Because in certain industries you really need go-getters.
But if you're talking about children, for example, we would say that they are bouncing off the walls.
大家有沒有看過那種彈力球, 到處亂彈的那種感覺, children who had too much sugar, they are on sugar high.
I get like that if I have too much sugar or coffee.
I've seen you bouncing off the walls after 3, 4 cups of espresso, but that does happen.
It's quite comical guys. It's like Lulu, what are we going to record today? What are we going to do today? Boss? Yeah, you have that moment.
I do have those moment.
But something similar to this is an energizer bunny. Do you remember the battery brand called energizer and that's the bunny with the drum?
We actually call someone an energizer bunny based on that advertisement. Yeah. So it's someone who just keeps going without getting tired like they are on batteries.
And someone who is always on the go, yes.
Like they're always ready to do things, are ready to go somewhere.
They're busy, they're active, they're on the go.
We've talked about so many expressions to describe a high energy person. Let's talk about the benefits and challenges.
Well, you’re high energy person you can talk about the benefits.
Well, I would say when you have a lot of energy, obviously you get a lot of things done.
You can stay active and productive for extremely long period of time, like long hours. This is why our followers are really surprised or even shocked to see that I live stream till almost midnight and I start live streaming again in the morning at 6:00.
Yeah. But then again it's sometimes hard to relax or slow down.
That is actually true. That's actually true, but that level of energy is also very contagious. So you can actually pass on to other people. So I would say high energy people, they are great and motivating others. I don't want to say inspiring others because it sounds really arrogant, but it does infect other people it.
It does, I completely agree with you, but it can also be overwhelming.
So there were lots of people who are quieter, who probably want to express themselves, but if they are with a high energy person, they find it difficult to express themselves. Yes. It can be rather overwhelming.
I remember going to English classes when I was like nine or ten, I joined the class and the second day five young girls were trying to drop out and saying that as long as Lulu is in that class, we wouldn't get any opportunities for practice.
I can imagine you've been a very very annoying child.
Yeah, but I wasn't like putting them down. I wasn't saying anything nasty. All I did was like me, me, me, pick me, I volunteered that sort of thing.
I suppose that's what you meant by it can be overwhelming. Yeah. Do I overwhelm you when we work together?
Not at all boss, not at all.
But seriously?
Yes.
How does that feel like? Is it like the sort of pressure that you feel like you have to keep up with the energy level?
Well, not so much about having to keep up with the energy level, It's the fact that sometimes when you're with a high energy person, they want to speak, they want to communicate.
And sometimes I'm probably more reflective, so I would take longer to say something. And sometimes you have a tendency to interrupt me a little bit when you lose patience.
I think I need to watch out for that when I communicate with other people.
Yes boss.
So when you work together for long hours, it's quite difficult to hide your true self to be honest.
Yes. But if you bring all that high energy to work, there is always a risk of burnout. If you don't manage the energy well.
That is true. Remember I said a high energy person can stay active and productive for long hours. But the downside is when I'm down, I feel completely burned out and drained.
But having said that, high energy people they are very good at leadership roles, isn't that right boss?
No, I mean perhaps leadership roles not so much managerial, leadership more like inspiration sort of thing, like just the general energy, not so much the day to day operations and management.
Because again one other thing with high energy people is that they don't really have as much patience. Because imagine you live at your energy level which is extremely high and you're dealing with people with much lower energy level. And you constantly feel like you want to light a fire underneath them.
I don't have to imagine.
No, I was talking to the audience.
Okay. I thought you're talking to me and no, I don't have to imagine that.
You have already experienced that a lot.
Okay. So I think we're gonna wrap up here. Are you a high energy person like me or are you more like 安瀾, who's more... I would say balanced or are you just a capybara which is cute and fluffy.
Exactly. And very good for balancing oranges and other various objects.
