和新冠患者接觸后，One Republic寫下了這首歌

Ryan Tedder recalled the first time he decided to go into isolation was when he learned that his friend whom he shared pizza with and spent an entire night with, tested positive for COVID-19.

His friend texted him from the hospital about his condition.

"He's like, 'Mate, I'm so sorry but you need to go straight to a doctor, you need to get tested. I have coronavirus and it sucks. I'm in the hospital.'"

When Tedder learned about his friend's condition, he immediately called his doctor and was told not to go home to his wife and kids but head straight to his studio.

"And then on the third day, I snapped and I was like, you know what, screw this, let's do live concerts every night for free, let's do a cooking show. I'm going to start quarantine cuisining every night. I love to cook and let's connect with the rest of the world."

We were in the final week of our fifth album deadline when a global pandemic was declared by the WHO...With only two songs left to finish, one of them happened to be 'Better Days.' We write about real experiences and events that happen to us — this is what happens when you write a song during a crisis.”

The song's official music video is also very warmhearted. One Republic has asked their fans around the world to send them their social distancing and self-quarantining videos.
