A migrant from West Africa rescued a 4-year-old boy who was dangling from a balcony in Paris this week. The 22-year-old migrant had been watching football at a nearby restaurant when he heard the commotion. Seeing the child in trouble, he quickly scaled the front of an apartment building, pulling himself up four storeys to reach the child. The heroic rescue, which took under 30 seconds, was caught on camera and shared around the world. After seeing the footage, France’s president offered Mamoudou Gassama French citizenship. The Paris fire brigade also offered the migrant a job. The father of the child, who was out shopping and playing Pokémon GO during the rescue, is facing charges of neglect.
