So when I started producing "The Dead Mall Series," I put the videos up onto YouTube,
當我開始制作“廢棄的商場系列”時，我把這些視頻放在了YouTube上，
and while I thought they were interesting, frankly I didn't think others would share the enthusiasm for such a drab and depressing topic.
當時我覺得它們很有趣，可是說實話，我不覺得別人對于一個如此單調而壓抑的話題也會感興趣。
But apparently I was wrong, because a lot of people started to comment.
但是很顯然我錯了，很多人開始評論留言。
And at first the comments were like -- basically like, "Oh my God, that's the mall from my childhood. What happened?"
一開始留言是--基本上都是“哦我的上帝，這是我小時候就在的商場。發(fā)生了什么？”
And then I would get comments from people who were like, "There's a dead mall in my town. You should come and film it."
然后我開始收到人們的留言，“我們這兒也有個倒閉的商場，你應該來拍一拍。”
So I started to travel around the mid-Atlantic region filming these dead malls.
于是我開始在中大西洋地區(qū)往來，拍攝這些倒閉的商場。
Some were open. Some were abandoned.
有些還開著門。有些已經被遺棄了。
It was kind of always hard to get into the ones that were abandoned, but I somehow always found a way in.
想進入那些被遺棄的商場有點困難，但是我總能找到辦法進去。
The malls that are still open, they always do this weird thing -- like the dead malls.
那些還開著門的商場，他們總會做一樣的奇怪事情--像倒閉的商場一樣。
They'll have three stores left, but they try to spruce it up to make it appear like things are on the up-and-up.
他們會留下三家商店，但是他們會盡量好好裝扮，讓這幾家店看起來蒸蒸日上的樣子。
For example, you'll have an empty store and they bring the gate down.
比如，你會看到一家空空蕩蕩的商店，大門被拉下來了。
So at Owings Mills, for example, they put this tarp over the gate. Right?
在奧因斯米爾斯，比如說，他們給大門罩上防水布，對吧？
And it's got a stock photo of a woman who is so happy and she's holding a blouse, and she's like...
然后上面有一張宣傳照片，一個看起來非常開心的女人，她拿著一件襯衫，就像這樣...
