Brazil’s senate opened the trial of Dilma Rousseff, the country’s suspended president, following her impeachment for allegedly cooking the books to hide the real state of the economy. If 54 senators vote against Ms Rousseff, interim president Michel Temer will be sworn in for the remaining two years of her term.
