Alicia Keys did something pretty gutsy on the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet.

She showed up to the red carpet wearing absolutely no makeup.

I am not sure if you saw the photo or not.

We are not talking about the so called “no-makeup makeup”, which people use makeup to produce a natural look!

絕對不是所謂的裸妝，她是真的就木有化妝。

圍觀群眾和記者就凌亂了，這是個什么情況，難道最新流行又變了？！

這么隆重的場合，別的女明星又打針 又整容 又敷面膜，恨不得芭芭拉小魔仙變身！

可是，Alicia竟然素顏出鏡！Why?

Alicia 在一次采訪中提到，她曾經也是不化妝出門會感動十分焦慮的。

但有一天，她要去拍新專輯的封面。

She said: “I'd just come from the gym, had a scarf under my baseball cap, and the beautiful photographer Paola said, "I have to shoot you right now, like this! The music is raw and real, and these photos have to be too!"”

于是，攝影師就給了拍了一組素顏的封面照。沒想到效果非常好！

Alicia說 I swear it is the strongest, most empowered, most free, and most honestly beautiful that I have ever felt.

從那開始Alicia在很多場合就不再化妝了。

She wrote in a letter that one of the many things I was tired of was the constant judgment of women.

The constant stereotyping(把...模式化) through every medium（中等的） that makes us feel like being a normal size is not normal, and heaven forbid if you're plus-size.

Or the constant message that being sexy means being naked. All of it is so frustrating and so freakin' impossible.

這次Alicia 雖然沒有化妝，但舉手投足之間充滿了自信。

事后，也有很多人批評她說，出席這么重要的場合不化妝是對別人的不尊重，說她看起來很沒有精神！

但是，為什么女孩不化妝就是對別人的不尊重呢？為什么男人不化妝就沒有問題呢？是不是我們的思想都被一些所謂的常識禁錮了呢？

Actually, to wear makeup or not to wear makeup is a personal choice.

If you like to wear makeup or you feel better when you are wearing makeup, then do it. If it makes you feel good, why not?

But if you just do not want to wear makeup. Totally fine! No one has the right to judge you.
