Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest smartphone-maker, warned that its profits could fall for a third successive year in 2016. The South Korean giant pointed to slowing demand for electronic gadgets and lower prices for memory chips, of which it is also the biggest supplier. Last year profit fell by 19%, to $15.8 billion, in line with Samsung’s forecast.
