and most importantly, the class of 2014
最重要的 當(dāng)然還有2014屆畢業(yè)生
It is indeed an honor for me to be here tonight
今晚能夠來到這里 著實(shí)令我感到非常榮幸
It's been almost 37 years to the day that I graduated from UT
我從德克薩斯大學(xué)畢業(yè)已經(jīng)有37年了
I remember a lot of things about that day
對于畢業(yè)那天 我記憶猶新
I remember I had throbbing headache from a party the night before
我記得 由于前一晚的派對 我有些搏動(dòng)性頭痛
I remember I had a serious girlfriend, whom I later married
我記得我有一位嚴(yán)肅交往的女友 也就是我后來的妻子
that's important to remember by the way
記住這個(gè)顯然很重要
and I remember that I was getting commissioned in the Navy that day
我還記得 那天我將赴海軍服役
But of all the things I remember
在所有這些記憶中
I don't have a clue who the commencement speaker was that evening
我卻不記得當(dāng)晚畢業(yè)典禮的演講者是誰了
and I certainly don't remember anything they said
演講者說了什么我就更不記得了
So acknowledging that fact if I can't make this commencement speech memorable
這讓我認(rèn)識(shí)到 就算我不能把畢業(yè)典禮演講講得讓人難忘
I will at least try to make it short
至少我也該講得簡潔一些
The University's slogan is "What starts here changes the world"
這所大學(xué)的口號(hào)是 "從這里開始 改變世界"
I've got to admit I kinda like it
我不得不承認(rèn) 我很喜歡這一口號(hào)
"What starts here changes the world"

Tonight there are more than 8,000 students graduating from UT
今天 有八千多學(xué)生將從德大畢業(yè)

says that the average American will meet 10,000 people in their life time
一個(gè)美國人一生中平均會(huì)碰到一萬個(gè)人
10,000 people. That's a lot of folks
一萬人 相當(dāng)之多
