Monday is a little disjointed

I think the first day of class is always a little disjointed

because we come in kind of, more professors come in maybe not students

Professors come in all excited about what they are gonna teach

and so you want to tell everything about the whole course the first day

So you start going through your syllabus

so you jump over here and you jump over there

And I'll try to be a little more organized today

As we talk a little bit about history this period,

I'm obviously not a history professor

however as an undergraduate student ideal

so I had one of my major was in European history and I'm medievalist and so I know something about this period

but we're not gonna go in great depths

Just to review a few things,

I forgot my little kind of pile of call cards

That I want to ask you a few questions on Monday

We talked about what chivalry meant that

Chivalry the number one meaning in Webster amounted men at arms

This is the heavy cavalry of medieval times

And if you went through the definition in Webster,

while most of us think of as a definition of Chivalry,

here is the definition of Chivalry

but it doesn't come up until like the fourth or fifth definition

For example, four the dignity and system of knighthood, five the qualifications and characters of the ideal

It's like a lot of vocabulary,

we really don't know particularly what words mean

we know how we use them

One of my little kind of pet peeves in life is

Does Miss have a period or not? Yeah

Does Miss have a period or not after it?

It does?

Should it?

Did it always?

What is the period Mrs ?

This is trivia today if ever you get on a game show,

things you should know in life

Somehow it's tangentially related to what we're doing

since we're talking about form
