Art and Love in Renaissance Italy

which just opened in the B galleries
這個在B館新開的展覽，所以要看展覽
so you'll all have to trudge up those great hall stairs
諸位必須長途跋涉，跨越大廳諸多的臺階才行
And we'll be on view there till February 16th
這個展覽持續(xù)到2月16日，期間歡迎各位前來參觀
I just have to say that I walked up 82nd Street this morning
我想說的是，當(dāng)我今天早上走在第82大街上
and looked to the banners and thought

Our exhibition investigates the extraordinary works of art
我們這個展覽展示的是意大利文藝復(fù)興時期
with secular subjects that were produced for the Renaissance home
以世俗題材為主題的藝術(shù)作品
Most of them commissioned or created to celebrate
其中大部分是為了慶祝
the great ritual moments of people's private lives
人們私生活中舉行的重要的儀式
betrothal marriage sposalizio and the birth of a child
如訂婚儀式，婚禮，和嬰兒的出生
We try to give as full a picture of these commemorative works of art
我們盡我們所能讓大家通過各種形式
as possible ranging across all the media

You probably all know that in general Renaissance marriages

and the establishment of a family didn't have much to do with love

with a societal rather than an individual affair

having to do with families rather than romance

But that doesn't mean that the emotions of love were discounted

On the contrary love in all of its manifestations

painful unrequited love and plano-tender love

All of these were endlessly discussed in poetry prose music

and illustrated in all of the visual arts

So we've expanded the boundaries of our selection

to include many works that take up these themes
