第108課 天下沒有免費(fèi)的午餐
Hoping to get free contact lenses, Freddy goes to the optician.
弗瑞迪到眼鏡商那兒希望能得到免費(fèi)的隱形眼鏡。
F: Could you help me check my eyes. Please?
弗瑞迪：可否麻煩你幫我做一個(gè)視力檢查？
O: Sure. Please have a seat and put on these glasses.
眼鏡商：當(dāng)然。請(qǐng)坐下并戴上這副眼鏡。
Now, tell me. Which letters seem clearer?
現(xiàn)在告訴我，哪些字母看得比較清楚？
F: The ones on the right.
弗瑞迪：右邊的那些。
O: Ok. Can you read these price tags?
眼鏡商：好的，你看得見這些價(jià)格標(biāo)簽嗎？
F: Yes. They're as clear as daylight.
弗瑞迪：可以，很清楚。
O: Fine. Read out the highest amount.
眼鏡商：很好，把價(jià)格最高的念出來。
F: US$100.
弗瑞迪：100美元。
O: Right. That's what it'll cost you.
眼鏡商：沒錯(cuò)，這就是你要付的款數(shù)。
F: But I thought the contact lenses are free.
弗瑞迪：但是我以為隱形眼鏡是免費(fèi)的。
O: Yes. But you'll have to pay for our service.
眼鏡商:是呀，不過你得付我們服務(wù)費(fèi)。
F: No wonder they say, "there's no such thing as a free lunch."
弗瑞迪：難怪人家說：“天下沒有免費(fèi)的午餐。”
