南非前總統(tǒng)納爾遜·曼德拉不僅是一位政治人物,同時也是一位引發(fā)了靈感的藝術(shù)家。最近，南非一位設(shè)計師就推出了品牌名為“46664”的男裝，呼應(yīng)曼德拉在羅本島監(jiān)獄服刑時的代日。這一系列男裝也是為了向曼德拉致敬。

Former South African president, Nelson Mandela, is not only a political figure, but an inspiration to artists.Many musicians have dedicated songs to Mandela. Now a fashion designer is paying his own tribute to the great man by naming his label "46664 Fashion" Mandela's prison number during his days of incarceration on Robben Island, now used as a reverential title for the African hero.
Chinos lined with a blue African print, and floor length dresses in vivid greens and golds were some of the clothing on display, when 46664 Fashion presented their latest collection, ahead of an international launch to coincide with Nelson Mandela's 94th birthday.
Chris Vogelpoel, designer of "46664 Fashion", said, "The inspiration is obviously Madiba. As I say, very honest,it's as if like he's watching over my shoulder every day to make sure that I do a good job."
Blazers sporting maps of Africa on their lining, or T-shirts with collars that pops up to reveal the iconic number 46664. As of July18th, the public will be able to buy shirts, trousers and dresses with an African twist. For the designers, the link with Mandela can be both a challenge and a blessing. It means so much more than just working on the style and fit of a garment.
Chris Vogelpoel, said, "We embrace the fact that it's linked to Madiba. And 46664 is difficult because it's a number, a lot of people get it wrong. But that's our challenge, you know. We've got to spread the word, and hopefully in time, everyone will believe in us."
The brand goes beyond a well-tailored collar or a beautifully draped dress. The whole point of 46664 is to promote and sustain the legacy of Nelson Mandela, Africa's living legend.
