Eight people are dead and at least seventy injured, after a series of bomb explosions in southern Thailand. It's the latest in a wave of attacks blamed on Muslim separatists in the region.

Police say three bombs went off in the business district of Yala city at around lunchtime on Saturday. The devices are thought to have been placed in a car or motorbike. The governor of Yala province told Thai television that many of the injured were hit by the third bomb as they gathered at the scene. Since January 2004, similar attacks have killed over 5,000 people in Muslim-dominated Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat provinces.
