1.vice n. 惡習，罪惡，邪惡，缺點，老虎鉗

如：The vice is bolted to the work-bench.
老虎鉗是用螺栓擰在工作臺上的。

We should take into account the proposals of our parents and vice versa.
我們應該考慮父母的建議，反之亦然。

2.denial n. 否認，拒絕

如：His reply approaches to a denial.
他的回答幾乎等于拒絕。

The prisoner repeated denials of the charges against him.
囚犯對被控罪名再三否認。

The government has issued a denial of an election in May.
政府發表聲明否認五月份要進行選舉。

3.withdrawal n. 撤退，退回，取消

如：He advocated the withdrawal of the American presence in Lebanon.
他主張美國人應該從黎巴嫩撤走。

We made a strategic withdrawal, so that we could build up our forces for a renewed attack.
我們作了一次戰略性退卻，以便我們能積蓄力量再次進攻。

4.stick out 突出，堅持，伸出

如：He hates the job but he's determined to stick it out because he needs the money.
他討厭那工作－－但因為需要錢，只好橫下心來干下去。

He is determined to stick out the race even if he finishes last.
即使跑最后一名，他也決心堅持跑完。
