Dominic Swire talks to US software designer and fluent Mandarin speaker Mike Love who came to Beijing ten years ago, discovered there were no good electronic dictionaries on the market, so decided to develop one himself. Speaking on the phone from New York where he now lives and runs a company doing exactly the same thing, Michael talks about the challenges of learning the language, his ongoing mission to make the whole process a lot easier, and how we should learn to stop worrying and love Chinese characters.
