1. 過去的動作或狀態
I went to see a film yesterday.
我昨天去看電影了。
We had to get the result before 6 p.m.
我們必須在下午6點前得到結果。
He rushed to the office in two minutes.
他兩分鐘內趕到了辦公室。
Mary got the result of the exam last week.
瑪麗上周知道了考試結果。
2. 謂語動詞加ed
He finished the homework last week.
他上周完成了作業。
I played basketball with Tom.
我和湯姆一起打籃球了。
She handed in her paper yesterday.
她昨天交了論文。
We moved to a new place.
我們搬到一個新地方了。
3. 不規則的變化形式
動詞的過去式變化，還有一些不規則的變化形式。
(1) 以輔音字母+y結尾的動詞，把-y變為-i再加-ed。例如：
study - studied, copy - copied, cry - cried, justify - justified
(2) 以一個輔音字母結尾的重讀閉音節動詞，雙寫詞尾輔音字母，再加-ed。例如：
stop - stopped, beg - begged, plan - planned, dot - dotted
(3) 注意不規則動詞的過去式變化比較特殊，須記憶。
go - went, make - made, get - got, come - came, is/am - was, are - were, see - saw, bring - brought, teach - taught, think - thought, buy - bought, catch - caught, fly-flew, do - did, say - said, sit - sat, spend - spent, eat - ate, give - gave, write - wrote, read - read, put - put, fell - felt, find - found, hear - heard, know - knew, grow-grew。
He studied in this college for three years.
他在這所大學學習了三年。
She stopped the car quickly.
她快速地把車停住了。
We made an important decision.
我們做出了一個重要的決定。
I said to her that I was wrong.
我對她說是我錯了。
4. 一般過去時的時間狀語
I got the news last night.
我昨晚得到了這個消息。
She waited for the bus for half an hour yesterday morning.
她昨天早上等公交車等了半個小時。
He was in that school ten years ago.
他十年前在那個學校。
We moved here last week.
我們上周搬到這兒的
