Through the hushed air the whitening shower descends,
萬籟俱寂，飄落迷蒙的漫天碎雪，
At first thin wavering; till at last the flakes fall broad and wide and fast, dimming the day, with a continual flow.
霓裳起舞，化作羽毛的柔軟凋零，山川廣袤，剎那間天地卷入晦暗，
The cherished fields put on their winter robe of purest white.
揚揚紛紛，籠罩了村莊河流兩岸。銀裝素裹，眺望一望無際的凝重，
'T is brightness all: save where the new snow melts along the mazy current.
暮色漸褪，悄聲融化的白雪皚皚，龍走蜿蜒，流水淙淙中欣然上路。
Low the woods bow their hoar head; and ere the languid sun faint from the west emits its evening ray,
謙卑樹木，風雪中低下白頭，西陲夕陽，慘淡望蕭瑟寒冬，光華不再，大地蒼茫月色起，
Earth's universal face, deep-hid and chill,
風寒料峭，江河隱退寂寥收。
Is one wild dazzling waste, that buries wide
繽紛凌亂，飛雪狂舞遮不住，
The works of man.
天地一色，生機無限綽影留。
Drooping, the laborer ox stands covered o'er with snow, and then demands the fruit of all his toil.
低首徘徊，砥足耕作的老牛，落雪滿身，巴望主人的草料，
The fowls of heaven, tamed by the cruel season, crowd around the winnowing store, and claim the little boon which Providence assigns them.
天寒地凍，繁重活計下煎熬；群鳥麇集，黑壓壓蜂擁飛來，糧倉屋前，饑餓難耐地尋找，麩皮翻飛，悲憫眾生的回報。
One alone,
孤獨踟躕，象征家神的知更鳥，
The Redbreast, sacred to the household gods,
極度敏感，隆冬里惡劣天氣，
Wisely regardful of the embroiling sky,
萬木肅殺，田野里到處荒蕪，
In joyless fields and thorny thickets leaves his shivering mates, and pays to trusted man his annual visit.
北風刺骨，穿過灌叢的長嘯，鳥兒嘶鳴，嗷嗷待哺的哀號，好心人吶，數九寒天來喂鳥。
