一.assume：vt.假定, 設想, 承擔, (想當然的)認為
【語法用法】
assume與presume都有“假定”的意思，但是前者只是一種假設，后者是認定是正確的，真實的，在等待被認定；
assume后常接that，而presume后不接that。
I assume that you can do it.
我假定你能做。
I presume you can do it.
我認定你能做。
使用assuming時，不用指明它是屬于哪個固定的詞。
Even assuming a great willingness on the part of all our friends to help, we must not forget that few of them are properly prepared for it.

【詞義辨析】
assume, presume, suppose, guess, postulate
這些動詞均含為“假設，猜想，推測”之意。
assume指有很少或完全無根據的武斷推測或不合邏輯的推理。
presume側重以過去經驗或根據現實的某些感覺把某事認定為是事實。
suppose常用詞，意義較廣泛，指缺乏確切事實，根據一些現象進行的推測，也可指為論證而提出合乎邏輯推理的某種假定，有時僅表示自己的意見。
guess常用詞，指毫無根據僅憑個人主觀臆斷或碰運氣的猜測。
postulate指為證實一個理論的正確性而進行的假設。
【例句用法】
She was in arrogance to assume she would win every time.
她認為每次都能贏，未免太自大了。
I made a mistake and I will assume responsibility for it.
我錯了，我愿為此承擔責任。
二.though：conj.雖然, 盡管, 然而, 可是 adv.（用在句末補充說明使語氣減弱）不過
【語法用法】
區別although和though:
though可以做副詞，指“但是”，但是although不行。
He said he would come, he didn't, though.
句中的though不能替換成although。
as though屬固定搭配，這里though不能替換成although。
although要比though來得更正式，相對而言，語氣比較重，但是though的使用更普遍。
although引導的從句，常指實際發生的事情，而不是假象，設想。
He would not be unhappy though he should have to live alone.
就算要一個人住，他可能也不會不開心。
He was not unhappy although he had to live alone.
雖然他不得不要一個人住，卻沒有不開心。though和although都可在從句中用作連詞，通常表示相同的意思，但though更普遍適應于非正式的表述中；
though已表示“然而，可是”，在句中，不可再與but連用。
Though he lives alone, but he is happy.
句子中的but要刪掉。
though引導的句子有時有特殊的格式。
Though he lives alone, he is happy.
即使一個人，他還是很開心。
句子中的“he lives”可以省略掉。
值得注意的是，句子 Though loving him, I cannot help him是不成立的，因為沒有though I was loving這一說法。
【詞義辨析】
though, although, as, even though
這些連詞均可表示“雖然，盡管”之意。
though和although在意義上幾乎毫無區別，但在習慣用法上這兩個詞仍有以下一些差異：1.though可引出倒裝語序的讓步狀語從句，although 則不能。2.though可與even連用，although則不能；在as though結構中，只用though，不能用although。3.though可以置于從句末，而although則不能。4.引出省略句時，通常用though。
although與though在意義上相似，但文體上是比較正式用詞，語氣比though強。
as引出讓步狀語從句只用于倒裝語序結構中，語氣強于上述兩個連詞。
even though（＝even if），意為“即使”，引導讓步狀語從句。though也引導讓步狀語從句，意為“雖然”；even though有退一步設想的意味，與though不同。though引導的句子所說的是事實，even though引導的句子所說的則不一定是事實。例如：
He will not tell the secret even though（even if）he knows it．
即使他知道這個秘密，他也不肯說出來。
He will not tell the secret though he knows it．
他雖然知道這個秘密，但他不會說出來。
