【語法用法】
指“空氣”時，air前通常不加the，只在the air we breathe等表達中才用the。特指“空中”時，air前加the， 而by air不用the。
We can now travel by air.
句中的by若改成through，則該加the。
take air指“傳開”，take the air指“到戶外”，take to the air指“開始飛行”，in the air指“在空中”，而in the open air指“戶外，露天”。
Many birds are flying in the air.
I am going out for a walk in the open air.
air指“天空”時，要注意與sky的區別，像句子The moon is in the air就是錯誤的，air應該替換成sky；
on the air和over the air是固定搭配詞組，指“無線電廣播”。
She is on/over the air.
她正在廣播。
【詞義辨析】
atmosphere, air, gas
這些名詞均與空氣有關。
atmosphere指圍繞星球，特別是圍繞地球的空氣，即大氣層。也可指環境氣氛。
air指空氣，也泛指一般氣體。
gas指氣態物，尤指供燃燒取暖或照明的氣體，其中一部分稱作瓦斯。
attitude, air, manner
這些名詞均含“態度、風度”之意。
attitude普通用詞，指對人或事情的看法和采取的行為，多有某種不很明確或不便明說的感情色彩。
air含義廣泛。單數形式指某人臉上表現出的心理活動，或言談舉止；復數形式指某人故意做作而擺出的架子。
manner多指某人在某一場合的言談舉止等。

There was an air of excitement at the meeting.
開會時氣氛顯得有些興奮。
The fresh air in the morning made him feel glad.
早晨的新鮮空氣使他覺得愉快。
I shall travel to New York by air this weekend.

二.rent：n.租金 v.租用, 出租 動詞rend的過去式和過去分詞 n.破裂處
【語法用法】
rent可統一表示“租金”，既可作單數，也可作復數，如a rent表示“一項租金”，而rents則表示“多項租金”；
rental表示“租金的額度”，不分單項或多項。
I have to pay a rental of five hundred yuan.
我要付五百元的租金。
rent在作動詞時，表示“出租，租用”。
Tom rented this house from Mr Little, and rented two rooms to Mrs Addams.
句中的第一個rent表示“租用”，而第二個rent表示“出租”。
在英國，rent僅用于房屋和土地，但是在美國沒有任何限制，可用于所有東西。
He rented a motor-car and went to see a friend.
英國人用hired來代替rented。
We rent books to members only.
英國人用lend來代替rent。
