一.follow：v. 跟隨，追趕，緊接著，注意，遵循，沿著，明白 n. 跟隨
【詞義辨析】
pursue, follow, chase, hunt, trace, track, trail,
pursue: 指堅持不懈、毫不動搖地緊跟、追趕某人、某物或某個事業。
follow: 普遍用詞，含義最廣，多指跟隨起引導作用的人或物，跟隨的動機可以是善意的，也可能是惡意的。
chase: 指快速追趕或決心追蹤，褒義貶義均可用。
hunt: 原義為“追獵、獵取”，現用于指追捕或搜尋逃犯等。
trace: 指根據線索或足跡進行跟蹤。用于抽象意義時指找到某事物的根源。
track: 指沿著人或動物留下的印跡或行跡追蹤。
trail: 一般指跟蹤追擊。
【詞語用法】
1.follow可表示“在……之后”，常作及物動詞，后面不需要再加介詞after。
The duckling followed its mother everywhere.
小鴨子們緊跟著母鴨到處走。
2.as follows屬于固定的習慣用語，在以詞組形式出現的時候，follow不可以單數形式出現，不管句子主語是單數或復數，只可以as follows的形式出現。

3.follow后的介詞如upon有時可省略。
A strange thing followed upon the incident.
這個事件后跟著出了很奇怪的事情。
4.(as) in the following同as follows一樣都屬于固定搭配，兩者不可混用，如不可隨意更改成as following或in the follows；
5.the following可同時作單數或者復數，隨句子的意思而改變。
The following is my full name.
The following are our full names.
6.following有時以介詞形式出現，常見于報紙上。
Following the ceremony a reception was held.
在典禮之后，會舉行一場招待會。
7.要注意，follow后不能接賓語和不定式的結構。
I followed him to go into the house.
這種說法是不可以的。應改成I followed him into the house。

錯句：The pages are all mixed up; this should follow after that.
糾正：The pages are all mixed up; this should follow that.
翻譯：這些頁全部都錯亂了，這一頁應該是跟在那一頁后面的。
分析：follow可表示“在……之后”，常作及物動詞，后面不需要再加介詞after。

二.ignore：vt. 忽視，不理，不顧
【詞語用法】
1.ignore表示“不顧，忽視”時，作及物動詞，后可直接加賓語，中間不需要介詞來連接。
【錯句舉例與錯句分析】
錯句：He ignored of the regulations.
糾正：He ignored the regulations.
翻譯：他忽視了那些規則。
分析：ignore作及物動詞，后直接加賓語，中間不需要介詞of。
【例句用法】
1.The wisest course would be to ignore it.
上上策是不予理睬。
2.He's his own man, but he doesn't ignore advice.
他雖然自有主張，但并不輕視別人的意見。
3.It costs 10 per metre, no, scrub that (ie ignore what I've just said), it costs 12 per metre.
