你相信在你們家某個角落里有一條通往另一樣世界的通道嗎？可千萬別爬進去。
小女孩卡洛琳搬進新居后，破舊而又死氣沉沉的環境讓她感覺無聊透頂。無趣古板的父母，怪異的鄰居，還有一個討厭的小男孩和他的小黑貓，這樣的生活對于滿腦子都是奇思妙想的她來說，簡直要了命。
不過事情并不是一直都那么糟，一個夜晚，她居然在家里的第13個門后面，發現一條秘密通道，喜歡刺激冒險的卡洛琳當然不會放棄一探究竟的機會，于是她順著那條通道慢慢的爬了過去。
卡洛琳發現通道另一邊是一個和現實完全相同但又不同的世界，一切現在都似乎在這里得到了復制，但是自己那些夢想卻又在這里得到了實現。而最讓卡洛琳高興的是，這個世界里的媽媽對自己和善可親、百依百順?？墒呛髞?，她發現了這位“鬼媽媽”準備給自己換上紐扣眼睛，并把自己永遠留在這個“奇妙”的世界?？辶瞻l現自己大禍臨頭了，她必須想辦法逃出“鬼媽媽”的魔掌。
