last year's five pilot provinces and municipalities.
Applicants eligible for the program are university and college students having financial difficulties. Instead of applying for loans upon reaching university, students will now be able to file applications in their home area according to their household registration, or "hukou". The annual maximum loan for each student will be six thousand yuan, or nine hundred US dollars.
