1. surprise 一般用語，指面對出乎意料之事感到驚奇、吃驚或懷疑
By firing a few shots we can surprise them into revealing their positions.
我們冷不防打幾槍就能讓他們暴露他們的位置。
2. astonish 指對無法相信的事實的突然發(fā)生充滿驚異，語氣比"surprise"強
She astonished me with her beautiful handwriting.
她以其秀麗的書法而使我驚異。
3. amaze 指對被認為不可能發(fā)生或完全出乎意料之事的發(fā)生后所感到的驚愕或困惑，可能愉快或痛苦，語氣比前兩個詞更強
I was amazed to find her there.
發(fā)現她在那，我感到很吃驚。
4. astound 震驚，是指難以置信的驚駭，在這組詞中語氣最強
Her elopement astounded her parents.
她的私奔使她的父母大為震驚。
5. appeal/make an appeal to sb. (for sth.) 請求
Her eyes held a look of silent appeal.
她眼中流露著無聲的求助神情。
His lawyer decided to take an appeal to a higher court.
他的律師決定向高一級法院上訴。
