The Spring Festival
The most important festival in China is the Spring Festival. It falls[降臨]on the last day of the lunar year and lasts until the Lantern Festival[元宵節].On New Year’s Eve, people usually cook lots of good dishes. Then the whole family sits around the table, feasting[大吃大喝]and welcomeing the first day of the new year.
When the clock strikes twelve at midnight, people greet on each other with “Happy New Year” and go out into the open to watch all kinds of fireworks glittering[閃耀；閃光]everywhere in the dark sky. Parents usually put a small red paper packet under their child’s pillow. Inside the packet is some money. That means the child is already one year older. In China people call this “Ya-Sui-Qian”[壓歲錢].
On the first day of the New Year, people go to visit their parents, relatives and friends. Some young couples get married on that day too. The Spring Festival lasts half a month until the Lantern Festival comes.

在中國，最重要的節日是春節。春節從陰歷年的最后一天開始一直持續到元宵節。在大年夜，人們常常做很多好吃的。然后全家圍坐桌旁吃團圓飯，迎接新年第一天的到來。
