Some merchants are selling comforters made with short single fibers called "si" instead of down in Nantong, Jiangsu province, were reported on Sunday.

"Fei si" refers to short single fibers that fall off feathers during the down processing. Because they look similar to down, it's hard to tell the difference once they're inside the comforters. These substandard fake down comforters often end up in consumers' homes, while others are used as bedding in hotels.
