The question is, has the world gone nuts? It certainly looks like a lot of people are being driven by fear, hatred and greed.
問題來了：這個(gè)世界是不是已經(jīng)瘋了?看起來確是如此，因?yàn)樵S多人都在被恐懼、仇恨和欲望所驅(qū)使。
Losing our sanity is about getting so absorbed in what someone else thinks that we're no longer in touch with our own sensibility. It's believing that we are right so everyone else must be wrong. It's thinking that bloodshed, violence or guns will actually solve something. It's believing that the real enemy is 'them', and that by eradicating 'them' we make ourselves safe.
失去理智，即意味著沉迷于他人的觀念之中，從而失去了自身的辨識(shí)力;抑或意味著篤信我們自己一定是正確的，所以別人肯定錯(cuò)了;抑或是認(rèn)為流血、暴力和槍殺能實(shí)際解決問題;也意味著相信我們真正的敵人是“他者”，并認(rèn)為只要鏟除他者，我們就安全了。
None of the above makes any sense in a sane world. Gaining our sanity means we know the difference between right and wrong, we know that two wrongs don't make a right. It's knowing that kindness wins every time. It's knowing that the one who shouts the loudest invariably needs the most help. It's knowing that sharing, communicating with, and helping each other is the best way to ensure our continued existence.
如果世界是理智的，所有這些都毫無道理。保持理性，就是我們要明辨是非，我們知道錯(cuò)上加錯(cuò)不會(huì)讓問題得到糾正，知道善良永遠(yuǎn)會(huì)戰(zhàn)勝邪惡，知道吼聲最兇的人一定是最需要幫助的人，知道分享、交流和互相幫助才是讓我們長(zhǎng)久生存下去的最佳方法。
Chaos is natural — our universe is organized chaos — so to find our sanity in the midst of this is vital. Life is unpredictable, everything is constantly changing, the only security is knowing there is none. Arenown meditation teacher once said that there should be no difference between meditating in a cave or in the chaos of a city, as stillness is inside us and not dependent on external circumstances.
混亂是一種自然的狀態(tài)——我們的宇宙本身就是一個(gè)有序的混亂體——所以在混亂的世界中求得理性就尤為重要。生活不可預(yù)知，萬事都在永恒的變化之中，唯一可以確定的是世界上根本沒有確定性的東西。一位著名的冥想師曾說過，在山洞中冥想和在喧囂的城市中冥想其實(shí)并無分別，因?yàn)閷庫(kù)o是存在于我們心中而不是外部環(huán)境中的。
Think of the sky that has clouds, storms, rain, snow, tornados, lightening, thunder, yet behind IT all is the sky, unchanging. Beneath our tears and grief, beneath the dramas and conflicts, there is a very sane, still and calm place we can rest in.
想想氣象萬千的天空，可能云層密布，可能暴雨傾盆，抑或雨水紛紛，可能下雪、刮臺(tái)風(fēng)，或許電閃雷鳴;可是，在這些喧囂背后，天空永遠(yuǎn)寧?kù)o。在我們的淚水和悲傷的背后，在挫折和沖突的背后，就是最本真的理性，這是供我們棲息的最恒久、最安全之地。
