Alibaba is poised to expand its footprint in the Chinese financial sector after Jack Ma, founder of the ecommerce group, paid Rmb3.3bn ($531m) for one of the country’s biggest software providers for securities companies.
阿里巴巴(Alibaba)正準備擴大其在中國金融業的立足點，該電商集團的創始人馬云將斥資33億元人民幣（合5.31億美元）收購中國最大的金融軟件提供商之一。
The deal for Hundsun Technologies also helps prepare Alibaba for battle with China’s banks, which have grown increasingly wary of Mr Ma’s plans for financial ventures and have started to restrict their co-operation with the ecommerce group.
收購恒生電子(Hundsun Technologies)的交易也有助于讓阿里巴巴做好與國內銀行角力的準備，目前中國各銀行對馬云插足金融業越來越警惕，并已開始限制各自與這家電商集團的合作。
Zhejiang Finance Credit Network Technology, a company owned by Mr Ma, purchased Hundsun Group, which in turn owns 20.6 per cent of Hundsun Technologies, its listed entity.
馬云擁有的浙江融信網絡技術公司(Zhejiang Finance Credit Network Technology)收購了恒生集團(Hundsun Group)，進而擁有上市的恒生電子20.6%股份。
Hundsun Technologies said in a statement to the Shanghai stock exchange that this gave Mr Ma a controlling share.

Alibaba, expected to go public in New York in one of the biggest listings of the year, has been working to break into the financial sector. An outspoken critic of Chinese banks for not providing good customer service, Mr Ma has vowed to inject more competition and shake up the status quo.
預計將在紐約上市、帶來今年最大上市交易之一的阿里巴巴，近期在努力打入金融業。馬云直言不諱地批評中國各銀行未能提供良好的客戶服務，他誓言要注入更多競爭，改變現狀。
After making some inroads with a small lending company, Alibaba stepped up its challenge to banks last year by launching a fund investment platform that effectively replicated bank accounts but offered much higher interest rates. Growth of the fund, Yu’e Bao, has been substantial, attracting more than Rmb500bn of quasi-deposits from customers in less than a year.

But banks have started to push back . Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, the biggest lender, last week restricted business with Alibaba’s online payment arm to one branch.

By doing so, ICBC ensured its branches would no longer compete with each other for inflows from Yu’e Bao, thereby limiting the return Alibaba can offer customers. The China Banking Association has also called for stricter regulatory control of Yu’e Bao.

As Hundsun will be controlled by Mr Ma’s private company, which will not form part of the Alibaba listing, it was not immediately clear how or whether it would be rolled into Alibaba Group Holdings. Alibaba declined to comment.

Analysts said Hundsun would strengthen Alibaba’s foothold in the financial sector. “Armed with Hundsun, Alibaba will be able to remove some of the technical obstacles to operating in the financial sector. It will be able to develop systems that will be compatible with the main systems used by banks,” Li Chao, analyst at iResearch said.
分析師們表示，恒生將加強阿里巴巴在金融業的立足點。“有了恒生電子，阿里巴巴將能夠掃除一些在金融業經營的技術障礙。它將能夠開發與銀行所用的主要系統兼容的系統，”艾瑞咨詢(iResearch)分析師李超表示。
Hundsun, started in 1995, has created software for online payments and business-to-consumer websites.

Caixin, a local magazine, has said that Hundsun is also the biggest software provider for securities trading and fund companies, though that claim could not be verified.
