Rory: Hi, Abidemi.
羅瑞：嗨，阿比德米。
Abidemi: Hi Rory.

Rory: So I was thinking about food in different countries.
羅瑞：我想聊聊不同國家的美食。
Abidemi: Oh, my favorite topic.
阿比德米：哦，這是我最喜歡談的話題。
Rory: Yeah.
羅瑞：好。
Abidemi: I love eating.
阿比德米：我喜歡美食。
Rory: Okay. Some countries have foods which other countries seem to find a bit strange. Okay. Something in England which people find quite odd which we think is perfectly normal is do you know lasagna?
羅瑞：好。有些國家的食物在其他國家看起來會有點兒奇怪。嗯。有人認為英國有些食物非常奇怪，可是我們認為很正常，你知道烤寬面條嗎？
Abidemi: Yes.
阿比德米：知道。
Rory: The Italian food, lasagna?
羅瑞：你知道意大利美食烤寬面條嗎？
Abidemi: Yes, I do.
阿比德米：我知道。
Rory: In England, if you go to a pub, it's always served with chips – French fries. So lasagna and French fries together.
羅瑞：在英國，酒吧通常會把烤寬面條和薯條搭配在一起。烤寬面條和薯條一起供應。
Abidemi: Okay.
阿比德米：好。
Rory: And people just seem to think this is weird, but in England it's completely normal. So I was wondering if you'd come across anything similar to that in countries you'd visited or even in your own country.
羅瑞：有人認為這很怪異，不過這在英國非常普遍。我想知道，你在外國旅行時，或者在自己的國家有沒有遇到過類似的事情？
Abidemi: All right. I think for me, when I was in Japan, I had – they have the combination of bread and noodles. So they would have noodles inside of bread, which to me is strange because it's carbohydrates plus carbohydrates.
阿比德米：好。我在日本的時候，發現日本有一種面包和面條結合起來的食物。他們把面條放進面包里，我認為這種食物非常奇怪，因為那是碳水化合物和碳水化合物結合的高糖飲食。
Rory: Well, that's quite similar to lasagna and chips, isn't it?
羅瑞：嗯，那跟烤面包條和薯條一起供應類似，不是嗎？
Abidemi: You're right. You're right. I would expect bread with hamburger or something more proteinous.
阿比德米：沒錯。你說得對。我希望面包和漢堡或是其他富含蛋白質的食物搭配。
Rory: Right.
羅瑞：好。
Abidemi: But yeah – so that's strange. And I've also heard in Thailand, they have corn on ice cream.
阿比德米：這很奇怪。我聽說泰國會把玉米放在冰激凌上。
Rory: Yeah, I tried that.
羅瑞：對，我吃過。
Abidemi: How was it?
阿比德米：怎么樣？
Rory: It was strange.
羅瑞：很奇怪。
Abidemi: Okay.
阿比德米：好吧。
Rory: It was really strange because like in England, we always think corn is something you have with your main course even though it's very sweet. But actually, it matches quite well with ice cream, but it looks strange because it's unexpected.
羅瑞：我認為那很奇怪，因為我們英國人認為玉米是搭配主菜吃的，雖然玉米非常甜。不過其實玉米和冰激凌的搭配很好，雖然看上去很奇怪，可能是因為這種搭配出乎我們的意料吧。
Abidemi: Interesting. Interesting. Maybe a bit like in Japan – back to Japan again, where they have mayonnaise on their pizza. And at the beginning for me too it was very strange when I first tried it. But now, I think from that experience, I've grown used to put in mayonnaise on my pizza, and actually love it.
阿比德米：有意思。真有趣。也許和日本的情況類似，我們再說回日本的食物，他們會在批薩上放蛋黃醬。我第一次吃的時候覺得那非常奇怪。不過那之后，我漸漸習慣在批薩上涂蛋黃醬了，實際上我很喜歡這種吃法。
Rory: Okay, yeah. I haven't caught to that one yet.
羅瑞：好。我還沒有試過。
Abidemi: Okay.
阿比德米：嗯。
Rory: But I know when I went to Belgium, in Belgium, they always have French fries with mayonnaise.
羅瑞：我去比利時玩的時候，我發現他們吃薯條會蘸蛋黃醬。
Abidemi: Okay.
阿比德米：好。
Rory: And again, when I first tried it, it seemed very strange because in the UK we always have chips with ketchup.
羅瑞：我第一次吃的時候感覺很奇怪，因為在英國我們吃薯條會搭配番茄醬。
Abidemi: I see.
阿比德米：我明白了。
Rory: But with mayonnaise, it's actually pretty good.
羅瑞：不過其實搭配蛋黃醬，味道非常不錯。
Abidemi: Yeah. I think so, too. I think what I like is French fries, mayonnaise, and ketchup.
阿比德米：對，我也是這么想的。我吃薯條的時候喜歡把蛋黃醬和番茄醬混合在一起。
Rory: Together?
羅瑞：一起蘸嗎？
Abidemi: Together.
阿比德米：對，一起。
Rory: You mix the ketchup and the mayonnaise.
羅瑞：你把蛋黃醬和番茄醬混合在一起？
Abidemi: I do, yes. You should try it sometimes.
阿比德米：沒錯。你可以嘗試一下。
Rory: I will try it, but I do think that's a bit strange.
羅瑞：我會嘗試的，不過我認為那有些奇怪。
