make up something to sb.：（尤指）因自己的過(guò)失向…彌補(bǔ)，補(bǔ)償

Expl. If you say that you will make it up to someone, you are promising that you will do something good for them after they have been upset or disappointed, especially by you.

e.g. I must make it up to him for the awful intrusion of last night.

因?yàn)樽蛲磉^(guò)分的打擾，我必須對(duì)他有所補(bǔ)償。

e.g. How can we make it up to them for what they have suffered?
