You Are the Fifth
你是第五條
A man saw a fisherman standing in the lake with a mirror. "Excuse me," he said. "What are you doing?"
有個人看到漁夫拿著一面鏡子站在湖里。“請問，”他說，“你在干什么？”
"Fishing," the fisherman replied.
“釣魚。”漁夫回答。
"With a mirror?" the man asked, in surprise.
“用鏡子？”那個人吃驚地問。
"Sure--it's a new invention. I am going to make a fortune."
“當然了！這是個新發明。我要賺一大筆錢了！”
"Could you tell how it works?"
“你能告訴我怎么釣的嗎？”
"Okay, but it will cost you $10."
“好吧。不過你得交十塊錢。”
To satisfy his curiosity, the man handed the fisherman the money. "Now show me how it works," he said.
為了滿足自己的好奇心，那個人給了漁夫錢。“現在示范給我看吧。”他說。
"Well," the fisherman began, "you aim the mirror into the water, and when a fish goes by, you startle him with rays of light reflected from the mirror. The fish gets confused and then you grab it."
“好的。”漁夫開始了。“你把鏡子對著湖水，魚過來的時候，你就用鏡子反射的光來嚇它。魚迷糊了，你就抓住它了。”
The man was greatly surprised. "Don't tell me how you fish. It's ridiculous! How many have you caught?"
那個人很吃驚地說道：“你不要說你怎么釣魚了。無稽之談！你釣了多少了？”
"You are the fifth today!" replied the fisherman with a smile.
“今天你是第五條！”漁夫笑著回答。
