泰坦尼克號 Titanic
Conor W. A clear illustration of the theme that appearances can be deceiving occurs in the history of the Titanic. The Titanic was a ship presumed to be unsinkable due to different chambers that would allow the hull to be breached without sinking. However, the appearance of the Titanic fooled hundreds of passengers, for when it hit an iceberg, the chambers filled and dragged the ship down slowly. If people had been initially more skeptical of the massive ship, there is a distinct possibility that the horrendous accident would never have occurred. This clearly shows how disaster and loss of life can occur when someone accepts an initial appearance without further investigation.
