Kenya Election: Kenyatta Clinches Narrow Win

The deputy PM manages to avoid a run-off after picking up 50.07% of the votes but his main rival vows to challenge the result.

肯尼亞獨立選舉委員會9日在內羅畢宣布，朱比利聯盟總統候選人、現任副總理烏胡魯·肯雅塔當選肯尼亞下一任總統。而敗選的奧廷加則表示，此次選舉存在大范圍違規，他將訴諸法律。

肯尼亞獨立選舉委員會主席艾哈邁德·埃塞克·哈桑當天授予烏胡魯·肯雅塔獲勝證書，并正式宣布肯雅塔以總選票的50.07%微弱優勢贏得總統大選，當選第四任肯尼亞總統?？涎潘闹饕傔x對手改革與民主聯盟總統候選人、現任總理拉伊拉·奧廷加獲得總選票的43.28%，位列第二。據統計，此次總統選舉投票總人數約1120萬，投票率超過八成，創歷史新高。

東非最大經濟體肯尼亞3月4日舉行了5年一次的全國大選，選舉總統、議員和地方行政官員，這是肯尼亞2010年頒布新憲法以來第一次大選，共有8名候選人參選。由于電子計票系統故障，計票改用傳統人工計票，使得原本5日公布的結果不得不推遲到9日。

烏胡魯·肯雅塔生于1961年10月28日，是肯尼亞開國總統喬莫·肯雅塔之子。從2001年起，他先后擔任過肯尼亞地方政府部長、副總理兼財政部長等職。

My fellow Kenyans, today we celebrate triumph of democracy, the triumph of peace, the triumph of nationhood, despite the misgivings of many in the world, we have demonstrated a level of political maturity that surpassed expectations. We need to deal with weaknesses in our electoral system, and we want to demand that they are rectified because these elections and oozes bear serious weaknesses within our electoral system, weaknesses which we thought we have dented in the past, unfortunately they are very much present within the present system. I have a duty and responsibility to protect democracy in this country, the struggle for democracy in this country is very long. And we are not bound to surrender it to those forces of retrogression and darkness, those who have continued all the time to try to take us to the other, the opposite direction. These struggles have been between the two forces, and represent the force of the populist forces who want to democrat this country, to make it well united, a strong Kenya.
