Grand National Fences To Be Made Safer
Wooden posts in the fences at Aintree are being replaced with "plastic birch" after a string of horse deaths.
It’s among the most famous race courses in the world, but here in Aintree and alteration to the fences has been described by organizers as the biggest change in the history of the Grand National. The jumps will still look the same, but beneath the spirth covering hard wooden posts have been replaced by a soft material, known as the plastic birch.
The horse leaves leg, they has got the operation being push through. And um with birch on top of it, once as off, you then getting more from giving, surface and beneath of it. Basically, it make you more, well we call it friendly.
So there is a horse less likely to break her leg, if she jumps from this fence, something else will goings
Yes, softly, and I mean what is why being more to be given. In the last three years, 50% of horses in the grand national have fallen, that’s more than any other race, so Aintree has been left with this option but to make changes, and response to the claims of some, the race as skeptical over animal crusty.
It is not just the fences to be reworked. Among the other changes, the start is moving forward by 90 yards, away from the crowds, and the grand stand. Well the fence height will remain the same, the landing zone for four of the trickiest jumps, including beaches broke, has been levered in an effort to reduce the danger to the horses and riders. And the overall distance, it’s a little shorter, down to four miles and three and a half for longs. The charity world wealth warfare has welcomed the changes, but once few horses in the race.
Because of the number of the fallen over the last three years in the first third race, significant more than the last two thirds, we’ve believed there is some accidents is port, a trial reduction in numbers. To something near 30 from current 40.
There will be no change in number this year, but the Grand National in April will be the first test to the safety measures design to appease those calling for the race to be banned.
