Chapter 24 Language Barrier between Chinese and Foreigners
David：Do you know any foreign experts here in China?
你認識在中國工作的外國專家嗎？
You：No, language is a real barrier between Chinese and foreign experts. As more and more people learn English, however, foreign experts can share their knowledge more easily.
不認識。語言是中國人和外國專家之間的一個障礙。但是隨著越來越多的人學習英語，專家們就能很輕松地發揮他們的作用了。
David：I agree. The language barrier is a roadblock to potential cooperation between foreigners and Chinese. I feel that since many foreign experts came to China to work, they may have not studied Chinese before. They only know English so they might be isolated from the real China.
You：Right, it’s isolating. So, how can people break through this isolation and start getting through to each other? This is an urgent topic to put in front of people.
David：It is an urgent toopic, indeed.
You：Now English has gone global. It is not limited to people in England or the United States. In more and more countries people are using English. So maybe this is how to do it.
David：There are two solutions: encourage foreigners to study Chinese and encourage Chinese to study English!
