上文三段材料的標題中都有一個tie，雖然在具體語境下稍微有些差別，但都表示“關系，連接，聯(lián)系”等意思。其實tie的詞義很豐富：

可以看出作為名字時候tie最常用的詞義是2和4，分別作為抽象的和具體的“聯(lián)系”；當然作為男人，領帶也經(jīng)常用；而對于足球迷來說，平局更是司空見慣的。而作為動詞，tie的用法與其名詞意義有著不可分割的關系，可以說只要記住了主要的名詞意義，動詞的含義就會很容易理解。
