資源
A nation's resources consist of three broad areas:
國家的資源由三大方面組成：
natural, capital, and labor, Natural resources are provided by nature in limited amounts;
自然資源、資本資源和勞動力資源。自然資源是大自然賦予的，數量有限；
they include crude oil. natural gas. minerals timber, and water,
包括原油、天然氣、礦產、木材和水。
Natural resources must be processed to become a product or to be used to produce other goods or services.
自然資源必須經加工才能成為產品或用于生產其他產商品或服務。
For example. trees must be processed into lumber before they can be used to build houses, shopping malls, and schools.
例如樹木要加工成木材才能用來建造住宅、商廈和學校。
Capital resources refer to goods produced for the purpose of making other types of goods and services.
資本資源是指為制造其他商品或服務而生產的產品。
Some capital resources, called current assets, have a short life and are used up in the production process.
有些被稱為流動資產的資本資源壽命很短，在生產過程中就耗盡了。
These resources include fuel, raw materials paper. and money.
此類資源包括燃料、原材料、紙張和貨幣。
Long-lived capital resources, which can be used reapeatedly in the production process, are called fixed capital.
可以在生產過程上重復使用的壽命較長的資本資源被稱作固定資本。
Examples include factory buildings, compact-disk machines, personal computers, and railroad cars.
例如廠房、激光唱機、個人電腦和火車車廂。
Labor resources represent the total workforce of a nation.
勞動力資源是指國家的人才資源。
To have vlue in the labor force, individuals must be trained to perform either skilled or semiskilled work.
只有受過培訓，勝任技術性或半技術性工作的人才可以在勞動力大軍中占據重要的一席之地。
For example, the job of a physicist requires extensive station’s gas pumps.
例如，物理學家的工作需要大量的培訓，而在加油站操作油泵僅需極少的培訓。
Human talent is the most valuable national resource.
人才資源是最寶貴的國家資源。
Without it, no productive use of either natural or capital resources is possible.
沒有人才資源就無法有效地利用自然資源和資本資源。
