一般情況下，做旅行解釋時trip是名詞而travel是動詞。例如：
I traveled to Germany last weekend.上周我去德國旅游了。
= I took a trip to Germany last weekend.
= I had a trip in Germany last weekend.
你也可以說”to make a trip”，但是這通常是短途出行而且有一定目的。比如：
I made a trip to the grocery store to buy some milk.
我去了雜貨店買牛奶。
有時候，travel也可以作名詞。比如：
Travel expands your perspective on life.
旅行能增長生活閱歷。
或者和所有格形容詞連用：
My travels really expanded my perspective.
我的旅行增加了我的閱歷。
作名詞時，travel表達的是所有旅行經歷這個整體。
Trip同樣可以用作動詞，用法是”trip over something”，表示走路時有東西擋路，導致你摔倒了。Trip還可以和藥物／毒品連用，表示服用藥品后產生幻覺或快感。
I was tripped over a plastic bag and hurt my knee.我被一個塑料袋給絆倒了，摔傷了我的膝蓋。
The Beatles were tripping on acid at the time their best song was written.
