A:Are the ceremony and reception held in the same place?
A:婚禮和婚宴在同一地點舉行嗎？
B:No,not usually. Most people are married in a church, and then the wedding party and guests go to another place for the reception. Sometimes, however, they hold the reception in a big room in the church.
B:不一定，通常不在同一個地方。大多數人都在教堂舉行儀式，然后再到別處舉辦婚宴，但有時也在教堂的大房問里舉辦婚宴。
A:Where do they go?
A:他們都去哪兒呢？
B:Either they go to a public place such as a hotel, a restaurant, or a club, or to the home of the bride.
B:他們選一個公共場所，像飯店、餐廳或俱樂部，要么就去新娘家。
A:They go to the home of the bride?
A:他們去新娘家？
B:Why do you ask?
B:為什么這樣問呢？
A:The Chinese custom is to go to the groom's home-just the opposite.
A:中國人的習慣剛好相反，是在新郎家宴客。
B:Oh! In our country the bride's family is responsible for the entire wedding-arrangement, costs, etc. So the reception is held at her home.
B:哦！在美國婚禮的安排、費用等全部由新娘的家負責。所以，請客也在新娘家。
A:That's very expensive for the family of the bride.
A:這對女方家是一項很大的負擔嘛。
B:Many American fcrthers joke that they would rather hold the ladder for their daughter to climb down and elope than pay for a wedding.
B:在美國，許多做父親的常開玩笑說，他們寧愿替女兒扶住梯子，讓她從樓上爬下來和情郎私奔，以免為她舉辦婚禮。
A:Tell me something about the bridal bouquet. Isn't it the custom to throw it?
A:聽說有個風俗——新娘要把花束拋給別人。是不是這樣？
B:Yes. When the bride and groom are ready to leave on their honeymoon all the single girls gather in one place. The bride stands with her back to them and throws her bouquet over her shoulder and they each try to catch it. The one who does will be the next one married.
B:是的。當新婚夫婦準備出去度蜜月時，所有的單身女孩子站在一起，新娘背對著她們，從肩上向后面拋花束。每個女孩子都想得到花束，因為得到花束的人將下一個結婚。
A:Maybe I'll be the one.
