【詞義解析】If you want to express that someone makes someone else familiar with something or aware of something，you can make use of this word. 如果您想表示某人使他人熟悉某事或知曉某事，您可以用到acquaint這個詞語。Or if you want to express that someone wants to learn about something himself, you can use it as well. 如果您想表示某人自己想知道、獲悉、了解某事，你也可以用到這個詞語。因此，acquaint翻譯為中文是：使熟悉，使了解，使獲悉，使知曉，告知等等。

【詞語運用詳解】那么，如何具體地使用來它來表達以上意思呢？我們來看下面的例句：

e.g. I want to acquaint myself with your strengths and weaknesses. 我想知道你有哪些長處和短處。

e.g. A messenger was immediately dispatched to acquaint the Prince with what had happened. 大家立即派人把發生的事稟報太子。

在以上例句中，都使用了acquaint someone with something這個結構。Acquaint是及物動詞，它后面接的賓語可以是名詞，代詞，也可以是反身代詞，后面緊跟解詞“with”，with后面可以接代詞，名詞，名詞性短語或名詞性從句。

在例句1中，acquaint myself with your strengths and weaknesses。Acquaint后接反身代詞myself，介詞with后面接名詞短語：strengths and weaknesses。

在例句2中，acquaint the Prince with what had happened。 Acquaint的后面是名詞：the Prince，with后面緊的是賓語從句：what had happened。

【詞語使用誤區警鐘】最后，在此給大家敲個警鐘——用acquaint來表示“使某人知曉某事”或者是“某人自己了解某事”，一定是用acquaint someone with something/acquaint oneself with something這個固定搭配模式。切記介詞使用with，勿用其它介詞。
