This phrase has been around for at least 400 years, 這個詞組至少已經有400年的歷史了and unsurprisingly, its meaning has remained unchanged throughout the centuries. 并且意料中的是，它的意思這么久以來并沒有改變For example, a popular playwright known as William Shakespeare uses the phrase in the play King Henry V, from 1599:

"He hath heard that men of few words are the best men."

Sometimes, men of few words were described in combination with another old expression that says they were 'men of action.' 有時候，這個詞組會與另外一個詞組結合起來用，即men of action翻譯為中文就是“實干家”Indeed, while a man may not have anything to say, they can make up for it by what they do. 的確，當一個人話很少的時候，往往他們就會用行動去彌補；
