我們把它和sneer連在一起記。一個人第一次掌舵的時候樣子可能會有點(diǎn)兒滑稽，那么人家會sneer 嘲笑他。 Steer操縱；駕駛；掌舵；sneer 嘲笑，冷笑。
The old man settled himself to steer.
老人坐定下來掌舵。

他在學(xué)習(xí)駕駛汽車。

Steer的基本意思是“駕駛(車、船)”“掌握方向”“使…開往…”，指能夠控制決定路線和方向的機(jī)械裝置的人所給予的指引。引申還可表示“指導(dǎo)”“引導(dǎo)”。

Tip: Obstacle這個單詞讀起來也有點(diǎn)兒拗口。Ob諧音“我不”，作為詞根ob通常有“反against”的含義，比如單詞 obstruct阻礙，妨礙；obtrude 闖入。Sta 則可以看成stand 站立，-cle是名詞后綴—站在反面就成了阻礙（obstacle）。
