可可英語的網(wǎng)友們大家好。在之前的學(xué)習(xí)中，Rose曾經(jīng)為大家介紹過not beat about the bush, “不拐彎抹角，不顧左右而言他”，以及l(fā)ay one’s cards on the table，將牌擺在桌面上；“明確地說明”這兩個短語。今天，我們讓其他幾個也表示“實(shí)話實(shí)說”的短語聚集在一處，供大家統(tǒng)一參考、記憶。

Above board 光明正大的；誠實(shí)磊落的

We did everything above board, never under the table. 做一切事情我們都是光明正大的，從不偷偷摸摸。

（not）Mince words （不）拐彎抹角；說話（不）爽快

She didn’t mince words. She just told him he was useless. 她沒有拐彎抹角，而是直截了當(dāng)?shù)卣f他這人真沒用。

I wish you didn’t mince words every time we need to resolve a problem. 我希望每次我們需要解決問題的時候你不要總是閃爍其詞。

Call a spade a spade 實(shí)事求是

Spade, 撲克上的“黑桃”。是黑桃就說黑桃，表示“據(jù)實(shí)而言”。

Why don’t you call a spade a spade? He’s a rude, uncaring, selfish man! 你怎么不實(shí)話實(shí)說呢？他是一個粗魯，不懂得關(guān)心別人、自私的家伙。

Come clean 和盤托出，坦白交代

這個短語從“坦白交代”的詞義上也能看出，一般指對不好的經(jīng)歷和事實(shí)全盤說出。比如：

I tried to give you some time, so you come clean. 我給你機(jī)會來澄清自己。

再比如木偶奇遇記中，蟋蟀對匹諾曹說，She’s right, Pinocchio. You’d better come clean. 她是對的，匹諾曹，你最好說實(shí)話。恩，否則鼻子會變長。

not pull one’s punches 一針見血；毫不留情

punch，出拳打，not pull one’s punches要出拳打的時候絕不往回拽，讓其毫不留情的出擊。這個短語就表示“一針見血”。

I didn’t pull my punches; I told her exactly what I think of her. 我沒有手下留情，我實(shí)實(shí)在在的告訴她我是怎么看她的。
