據(jù)悉，國家將在“十二五”期間建設(shè)100座新能源示范城，以推動新能源在城市的應(yīng)用。不過，新能源示范城這個概念還處于前期醞釀之中。

國家能源管理部門有官員表示，“新能源示范城”這個概念還處于前期醞釀中，對應(yīng)的評估體系和相關(guān)政策正在起草中。

在上面的報道中，new-energy model city就是“新能源示范城”。新能源城市將大力推廣wind energy（風(fēng)能）、solar energy（太陽能）、geothermal energy resources（地?zé)崮茉矗┑刃履茉吹睦茫膭頶reen car（新能源汽車）、smart grid（智能電網(wǎng)）等產(chǎn)品的使用。

Model city就是“示范城”，model在這里的意思是“模范的，榜樣的”，類似用法有model village（模范村），model workers（勞模），model wife（模范妻子）。“示范”也可以用其他表達方式，例如agriculture demonstration base（農(nóng)業(yè)示范基地）。
