上個月，英國語言學家Jeremy Butterfield出版了一本新書A Damp Squid: The English Language Laid Bare。他根據牛津語料庫（Oxford University Corpus）中的資料，統計得到英國人最常見的10句套話。對于老外，聽到這些話，可能會覺得反感。但是，我覺得對于中國人，不妨好好學一下，偶爾用用，反而能增進語感，讓native speaker“刮目相看”。
下面就是我做的筆記。
1. At the end of the day
【中文解釋】 最終；表示總結
【例句】Sure we missed our best player but at the end of the day, John, we just didn't play well enough to win the game.（我們最好的選手不能上場，但是最終來說，還是因為我們發揮得不好，所以無法贏得比賽。）
【例句】At the end of the day, what matters is that you're safe.（最終來說，你安然無恙，這才是最重要的。）
【例句】We interviewed many people for the job, but at the end of the day, we didn't think any of them could handle it.（我們面試了很多人，但是最后，我們覺得合適的人選一個也沒有。）
