1．現在分詞作定語

（1）現在分詞作定語時表示該動作正在進行，單個現在分詞作定語通常放在被修飾詞的前面

The rising sun looks very beautiful. 冉冉升起的太陽看著很美。

This is an exciting news. 這是個激動人心的消息。

（2）若被修飾詞與現在分詞是被動關系時，須用現在分詞的被動式(being done)作定語

The song being broadcast is very popular with the young.

正在播放的歌曲深受年輕人的歡迎。

2.現在分詞作表語

（1）現在分詞做表語是一些表示情緒、心理的詞，如excite, interest等，他們的現在分詞形式可以表示“令人激動的”，“令人感興趣的”等。若表示人對……感興趣，就是somebody is interested in…,若人或物本身有趣時，就是說sb./sth. is interesting

（3）現在分詞作表語表示主語的性質、特征。

這時通常可以看作形容詞，可以用very, so或much等修飾

The news that your team had been beaten in the match was very surprising.

The sound I heard last night was so frightening.

我昨晚聽到的聲音令人恐怖。

If the book is very interesting, I will buy it.
