1"break the tie"
Tie.

tie在這里是平局的意思
在比賽中,雙方打成了平手。如果其中一方的隊(duì)員能在比賽結(jié)束前贏得分?jǐn)?shù)那就是break the tie.
EXAMPLE "Whoever wins in Florida will have enough votes to break the tie.
誰贏了弗羅里達(dá)誰就能打破僵局獲得足夠的選票贏得比賽。
NBA賽事中,shark 在關(guān)鍵時(shí)刻投進(jìn)了一個(gè)球這時(shí),一個(gè)球員對(duì)他說:great job man, you break the tie.
2"don't burn your bridges"
人與人的關(guān)系就像是一座橋梁一樣,它可以使你實(shí)現(xiàn)自己的夢(mèng)想或完成一件事情。如果你燒了這座橋梁就好象是自掘墳?zāi)挂粯印?BR>Example: "On his last day on the job he got in a huge fight with his boss." Answer: "Why would he want to go burning his bridges like that?
