歷時5個月的長安街道路大修工程于近日全部完工。修葺一新的長安街首次實現了雙向十車道的規劃設計，大大提升了道路的通行能力，將成為60周年國慶閱兵儀式的“主戰場”。

Beijing's main road, the Chang’an Avenue, is getting a makeover ahead of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) in October.　The avenue received its last face-lift in 1999 for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of PRC.

在今年十月中華人民共和國建國60周年前夕， 北京市主干道長安街正進行全新整修。長安街上次整修是在1999年為慶祝50周年國慶而進行的。

在上面的報道中，face-lift就是指“整修、翻新、改造”，對一座城市來說就是指“市容改造”。此外，face-lift還常用來表示“整容；改版”。例如：Calvin has had a face-lift and looks much younger（卡爾文做了面部整容手術，看起來年輕多了）；His favorite newspaper is to get a face-lift as of January 1 next year.（他最愛看的一份報紙將于明年1月1日起改版）。

據報道，長安街整修之后，不僅replace lights（更換了路燈）, phone booths（電話亭）, trash cans（垃圾桶）, newspaper billboards（新聞公告欄）, bus signs（公交站牌） and benches（長椅） on both sides of the road，還whitewash exteriors of buildings along the thoroughfare.（粉刷了沿路建筑的外墻）。
