Foreign direct investment (FDI) from the EU into China dropped sharply from 6 billion Euros ($ 9.3 billion) in 2006 to 1.8 billion dollars last year. It was quite a small amount if compared with the total foreign investment by the EU. Meanwhile, Chinese investment in the EU also decreased significantly from 2.2 billion Euros in 2006 to merely 0.5 billion Euros last year.
