4. Do you think the development of science would bring people much more convenience? In which aspects dose it show?

在20世紀，人類發(fā)明了許多有用的物品，如：電話、電腦、電視……，這些物品使現代人類很方便干一些事情。凡事都有兩面性，那么科技的發(fā)展是不是真給人類帶來了方便呢？這道題目回答可是是“是”，也可以是“不是”，關鍵是回答in what aspects，即體現在什么方面。

Candidate 1: With the development of science, our lives have changed a lot during the past several decades. When we are sitting before a computer and talking with people who live thousands of miles away, we should give thanks to science. Science dose have brought us convenience but it also brings us more problems.

Several years ago, if we lose lovely pets, we can do nothing but pray for them. In 1997, Dolly's birth changed all. With the help of new technology—clone, we can get our pets back. But worries come, too. Can we bring dead people back? How should we treat cloned people? If you are cloned, what's the relationship between you two? A series of question are challenging our ethics. Do you think cloning brings us convenience? I don't think so.

As we all know, Internet is created for communication and sharing. But now, many young people get addicted to it. They are pushing the envelop to get immersed in this advanced technology to catch up with the fashion. Can we say Internet brings them great convenience?

The greatest horror that science brings us is unclear weapons. Its massive energy can destroy the whole world. And many super powers use it to prevail in international affairs. Do they bring us convenience? No.

I think the examples above are evident enough to illustrate my point; Science isn't equal to convenience. I think the key to get convenience lies in the way we make use of our science.

Candidate 2: I think the development of science and technology would bring people much more convenience. Firstly, we can get more and more information through the Internet, broadcast and television, and we can touch the news very easily. Technology makes a great contribution to those. And if you want to go traveling, you could find the related travel agencies and go anywhere as you want. Owing to science, a lot of patients recover very well with few virtuses killing us. Science and technology is also available to agriculture to a great extent. According to science, we can use a little room to plant more and more rice. We can eat high quality vegetables and so on.

Actually, science and technology are closely interconnected with each other. Both of them can let us know more about the world in which we live, and help us do many things very easily. So both of them bring people much more convenience.

Candidate 1通過分析三個例子說明科技并沒有帶給我們方便。克隆技術違背了倫理道德；青少年沉迷于網絡無法自拔；核武器帶來了諸多國際爭端……Candidate 2認可科技是能夠給人帶來很多便利的。我們能夠通過網絡獲取大量信息；可咨詢旅行社到各地旅游；我們少受了許多病魔的折磨；依靠科技我們可以改善農業(yè)。這些都是科技的好處和便利。
